SERMON 1 OF SEYDINA LIMAMOU LAHI (PBUH)

Praise be to God who created all the creatures and sent His messengers among men, and who chose among these messengers MOHAMED whom He made superior, the best of all creatures.

Praise be to God who made of the people of His prophet the best of all peoples. May God's grace and peace be upon him, his family and his companions.

Here is Limamu Laye's message to all his followers and to all muslims, men and women, old and young.May peace be upon you and your families. I greet you and wish you to have peace, prosperity and happiness.

I recommend you to do your utmost to better obey God and His messenger in order to strengthen your faith. Do good and love one another. Religion means being generously available, to God, His messenger, His holy book,  to religious leaders and all muslims.

To be available to God means to accept His unicity, execute His commandments, break away from what He prohibits and advise other people to adopt a similar behaviour. To be available to God's messenger is to believe in His mission, attest him, follow his prescriptions, abandon what he prohibits and follow his tradition.

To be available to God's holy book (the Qur'an) is to read  is to love, (is to read) and re-read it very often and practise what is prescribed in it. To be available to religious leaders (is to love them), follow their advice, help them in their activities concerning religion and advise people to adopt a similar attitude toward them.

To be available to all muslims is to love them all, for, as God's messenger has said, (may God's grace and peace be upon him), "The believer must love all believers and hate none", and again : "The true believer must wish other believers what he would like for himself".  God's messenger (may God's grace and peace be upon him) has said : "don't hate one another, advise against evil, establish good relations between yourselves".

I recommend you to strengthen the relationships between you with love, for the inhabitants of paradise love one another. Avoid enmity and hate, for you are brothers. You must know that the believer has for brother the believer. As God almighty has said : "All believers are brothers, so settle differences between your brothers and fear God so that He should pity you". You, believers must know that the believer must remain united to the other believers who in turn have to be united to him. The one who doesn't do so will not benefit from God's help. Don't try to surpass one another in acquiring riches in this world. Rather try to compete in obtaining riches from the other world.

That is what will provide everlasting wealth and honours. Don't crave for riches in this world, for this world is (like) a corpse (non proper to consumption). Only dogs and vultures eat such a corpse. Break away from this world, don't follow it, for it is an aging dwelling that will disappear and its disappearance is near.

Beware of rumours and hearsays, for very often what is being said or heard of doesn't correspond to reality. Don't harbour towards your brothers but good feelings. Avoid bad feelings. God is on the watch for the feelings of His servants.

Don't neglect recalling God's memory wherever you are. Recalling God's memory helps to reduce bad deeds and increase good ones. And the one who has many more good deeds than bad ones will have paradise for dwelling, God willing. God the Almighty has said : " think of God, whether you are standing, sitting or lying".

Meditate about God's prodigies such as the creation of heavens and earth. God has ordered that His memory be repeated, for Him the Almighty has said : "Repeat often God's name and celebrate it day and night" Think of God wherever you are, for these places will bear testimony in your favour on doomsday.
Eat and drink only what you have acquired honestly ; don't use but what has been honestly acquired ; don't wear but clothes
honestly acquired. Among all the things that can be of help to you, use only those that have been honestly acquired.

Things well acquired are things you have honestly earned. Ill- acquired things will be the first things to be torn off from man's belly on doomsday. An ill acquired thing can spoil riches the same way a spoonful of blood can spoil a calabash of milk. Thus, even a very small thing, if-ill acquired, can spoil a honestly-acquired wealth. The sign of downfall in man is to appropriate everythings he feels like possessing without worrying about whether it has been honestly or dishonestly acquired.

O' you my companions, men and women, I invite you to purify your body and clothes in this world, for we had better do it here than have to do it in the other world. As God has said, "they found in front of them what they had done".

Those who are in charge of recording men's deeds and words are continually watchful and they don't forget anything. Be zealous in obeying GOD AND His messenger and repent every time. Regret what has already been done, repare what can be repaired and take good resolutions. Serving God is a duty for any creature, for God the Almighty has said : I created men and djinns only for them to worship me.

God the Almighty has also said : It has only been required from them to sincerely worship God". Worship God and don't take it easy as if you were out of reach of God's powers. Fear God sincerely and humbly. Fear God, fear His punishments and calamities. This way, you could hope to benefit from His mercy through the intercession of His holy messenger (may God's grace and peace be upon him). Don't rely up only on the merit of your deeds. Equally fear and trust God. Fearing God is particularly important. He has said in His holy book : "The best provision is to fear God. So fear me you that I have bestowed wilh intelligence". God the Almighty has said too : "worship your God until the day of your death".

I limamu laye want you to know that I am already putting  into practice everything that I am advising  you to do, and at a level you would never reach. Take example on me, on my words. If you do it fully, I will lead you to salvation.

I recommend you to avoid slander, calomny, lies betrayal and the fact of telling many things about someone you don't like. Avoid jealousy, hatred, pride and ostentation. Purify your deeds by dedicating them to God. God's messenger (may God's grace and peace be upon him) had said to his companions : "Don't hate one another, don't be jealous of one another, remain united, don't hurl defiance at one another and avoid humiliating one another".

Be brothers and sisters, you God's servants. I, too, recommend you nothing else but that.

I recommend you to pray regularly. The first thing man will be questionned about on doomsday is whether he was praying as recommended in the holy book.

I invite you to take care of your families. Each of you is a shepherd. And a shepherd is responsible for what is under his care. A country leader will be answerable for the way he ruled his country. A judge will be answerable for problems in his village. A head of a family will be answerable for the state of his family. A tenant will have to answer for the way he used his room. A woman will be answerable for the way she managed her husband's room and bed, a servant for the way he took care of his master's things. The different parts of the body too will give account on what has been done with them. That is why I recommend you to accomplish your family duties.

A failing head of a family will be accused by the members of his family in front of God the Almighty. They will say : O ! God, this one was our guide, but he never advised us to worship god. So hold him responsible for the prejudice he has inflicted on us.

The extent of the prejudice will then be assessed and deduced from the total amount of good that he possesses. If he doesn't possess any, sins equivalent to the prejudice will be taken from his family members and added to his own  stock.

If the members in a family come to this situation, it is because they will  have been stricken with fear at the sight of hell, its flame and sparks, and they won't know how to find salvation.
That is why it will be deducted from the head of a family the prejudice resulting from his non advising or educating the members of his family.

Women too will say : O ! God this one was my husband on earth. he used to flog me to make me respect his bed, but he never flogged me for disobeying God or His messenger, or for lack of prayers, purification, ablutions and fasting.

He has never forbidden me to dance, to sing frivolous songs, to slander or to say insulting words O ! my god, hold  him responsible  for the prejudices he has inflicted on me. Sons too will say : O God, hold our father responsible for the prejudices he has inflicted on us.He had not given us a name among thase of the saints. He did not educate us. He has left us ignorant of God's haly book. He had not forbidden in todo what is prohibited by god ; he had not advised us to practise God's commandments ; he had abandoned us and left us free to do evil. O ! God hold him responsible for  the prejudices he has inflicted  on us.

Slaves, men and women will say : O ! lord, this one was our master on earth. He would order us to work, to run errands for the satisfaction of his own needs, and ne was haughty towards us. But he had never ordered us to obey God and His messenger. And whenever we had finished working for him, he would leave us free to do whatever we wanted. He did not instruct us on God's commandments, he had not   prohibited us to do what God has prohibited. O ! lord hold him responsible for the prejudices he has inflicted on us.

God is a just sovereign. He will pay each creature his due on doomsday , so that no one will owe anything to anybody. There will be too on doomsday prejudices that may result from what you possess ; sheeps, goats, horses, camels, poultry, or any other thing.

Everyone responsible for a prejudice will see that prejudice taken off from the good he has done, for God abhors injustice and has decreed its prohibition among His servants. And God knows everything and doesn't forget anything Everything you have done is recorded in God's book (lawil mahfus) and will remain there till doomsday .Doomsday is a day to be feared. Secrets will be revealed ; the one who has done good will profit from it, but the one who has done bad will pay for it.

Be prompt to repent. Don't hesitate too long when doing good is concerned. Whoever intends to do good should act quickly before losing the opportunity. On the contray, the one who is on the point of doing a bad thing should give himself a respite so as to have the possibility to change his mind. God inspires those He wants to reward to do good. Be patient and suppport one another with patience. Be united, fear God so as to belong to the blessed ones and be saved from God's hard and painful punishments.

I invite you to circumcise young boys and find a husband to young girls, for death is present all the time and is the lot of every living soul. God the Almighty has said : "every soul will taste death". And death comes only by surprise ; it interrupts projects for the future, turns children into orphans and breaks away groups (of friends, relatives or others). Death is a beverage of regret that every soul will drink. After drinking it, the one who used to do good will regret not having done more and the one who used to do bad will regret too, but regrets will have become vain by then. Death will separate people who love one another : spouses, mother and child, friends. It will reduce houses into ashes.

Numerous are the countries, big cities or villages which have finally been turned into deserted places. Numerous are these forsaken places that before their decadence were filled with people, big buildings and houses, that have been destroyed by death.

Remember the day when God will order Asrafil to blow his trompet. That day, when Asrafil has blown his trumpet, no one will be missing, angels, men, djinns, and other creatures. They all will wake and stand up. That is the day when a child's hair will turn white because of fear.

Fear that day and do good things for it. Happy will be the one who will face his good deeds. All God's messengers, all the saints and everybody who knows God well, fear that day. That day, fear will cause a woman to avort or not to recognize the baby she would be breastfeeding. People will get drunk not because of alcohol but because of the intensity of God's punishments

Know that every religious leader must follow the commandments of God and His messenger with fervour, and advise his followers to do the same . He must inspire them with fear of God's punishments, remind them permanently of God, warn them and exhort them to remain away from evil. He must not try to get from his followers advantages that he would value more than their strict respect of the recommendations of God and His messenger. Whoever calls men to God, or claims to have found the good path, or tries to get followers, but whose only concern is to amass riches is a man who has precipitated himself into God's wrath. This is valid too for any religious leader who lets his followers behave as they like, without warning them, or who promises them salvation in the other world out of the prescriptions of God and His messenger. Moreover, he will have lost and condemned his followers who will ask God on doomsday to hold him responsible for the prejudices                                                                        he will have inflicted on them.

But they could do it only if they had followed their guide in good faith. If however they had followed him knowing that he was lying, or because of his flighty conduct and his indulgence for their sins, then it will be vain for them to ask for repair for like their leader, they are nobetter than destructive jackals.

O ! You believers, do fear death and the pains endured during agony and the extraction of the soul (from the body of the dying person) Fear the darkness in the tomb, the interrogation by the angels, the punishments inside the tomb, the pressure of the earth and the long period you remain in the tomb till doomsday. Fear the moment of resuscitation, the agony of doomsday, the "Sirƒt bridge", and hell and its punishments that will be the lot of misbelievers and hypocrits. These are convincing words. Noone will escape from death. Everything you produce will be swallowed by the earth. Everything you will have collected will go to your heirs.

Dress in white, wash yourselves and be clean; there are in this world water and soap. If you follow my advice, you will find out its usefulness in the other world. If you don't follow my advice you will hurt only yourselves. You can't harm God. I myself am just an advisor and God the Almighty has said in His holy book : " a messenger has no other duty but to transmit",  and I have transmitted. Whoever has rebelled and preferred today's life will have for dwelling hell, called jahim. And whoever has feared the moment of his facing God and shun earthly pleasures will have paradise for dwelling
Do Know that we live in troubled times. This means that we are nearing the end of times. Take example on water. What remains of water in a container is always muddy.

Give alms very often, for alms keep calamities and incidents away. They help to draw riches, and doomsday will be like the shade of a tree for those who used to give alms. It is written in God's book that : "man will harvest only the fruits of his deeds".

The only parts of your riches that can be of help to you are those that you have used to feed  and dress, or that you have invested for God's sake to prepare the future.

ire your body with prayers and fasting. Purify your riches by paying zakat. God has said : "Pray and pay zakat, prayers are the pillar of religion". Someone who prays regularly according to God's recommendations (standing up, genuflexions prosternations, invocations) has consolidated God's religion. On the contrary the one who underestimates prayers is destroying God's religion.

However one who doesn't pay zakat out of his riches will not have his prayers accepted.

Always try to advise people to do good and avoid bad things, for, as God's messenger (may God's blessing and peace be upon him) : has said, those who recommend good things and advise against evil are those who on doomsday will sit on comfortable armchairs under the shade of God's throne.

Help one another. Be patient and indulgent to one another, establish peace between yourselves, be clement and generous to one another. God is highly merciful to believers. whoever has done good, as little as it may be, will see it, and whoever has done evil will see it too.

May God pity you, and give you peace and salvation, and may He direct you to the good path. Amen.

May God's blessing and salvation be upon Mohamed, his family and his companions.
